The Tasties celebrate chefs, restaurants, and teams that make Philadelphia’s dining scene one of the best in the country. While many of the awards focus on food and chef-driven achievement, others recognize the essential roles of beverage and hospitality in creating a complete dining experience as well as shining the spotlight on the vital support staff.

Chef of the Year: Honors a chef whose work represents the pinnacle of culinary excellence, leadership, and impact on Philadelphia’s dining culture.
Breakout Chef: Recognizes a rising talent whose creativity, skill, and influence mark them as a chef to watch.
Standout Baker or Pastry Chef: Celebrates exceptional skill and artistry in bread, pastry, or dessert, with a focus on technical mastery, innovation, and consistency.

Restaurant of the Year: Awarded to a restaurant that represents the best overall experience — outstanding food at its core, combined with service, hospitality, and beverage that set the standard citywide.
Best New Restaurant: Recognizes a newcomer (open within the past year) that has made an immediate and lasting impact through food, creativity, and atmosphere.
Neighborhood Gem: Spotlights a restaurant deeply rooted in its neighborhood, valued not only for excellent food but also for hospitality, accessibility, and community connection.
Icon Award: Honors a restaurant that has firmly established itself as a leader in Philadelphia’s dining scene through long-term consistency, excellence, and influence. Recognizes a legacy of greatness that continues to inspire the industry.

Craft Cocktail Excellence: Honors a bar program or individual that sets a high standard in cocktails and beverage innovation, combining creativity, technical precision, and a program that enhances the dining experience.
How Categories Are Judged
Food & Chef Awards: Driven primarily by culinary achievement, creativity, and consistency, along with leadership and impact.
Restaurant Awards: Judged broadly on the full guest experience, including food, hospitality, and beverage programs.
Hospitality & Beverage Awards: Evaluated on their distinct contributions to the dining experience while reflecting the same core values of quality, innovation, consistency, and impact.
Dish Wizard Award: Recognizes the unsung heroes in the kitchen—individuals whose hard work, dedication, and resilience make them an integral part of the team.
People’s Choice Awards: Determined entirely by public vote, with categories that may shift from year to year.
